Betgenius is a world leader in sports betting and gaming software. We designed a whitelabel sportsbook as a potential product expansion into the European market. Betgenius could offer betting operators a ready-made product. Built with the latest technology and adopting best practices in user experience and performance.

Design system

The task was to design and build components for the development team to integrate into the over-arching sportsbook project. We housed the components on their own site and it evolved into a fully-fledged design system.

We ensured the we designed and detailed the full lifecycle of every component. This was due to a recent introduction to finite state machines. The feedback from the wider development team was positive. It gave them confidence to estimate dev effort which kept the project on track. It took the nitty gritty design implementation out of their hands. It reduced the back-and-forth with the design team.


Early on in the project there were regular requests about what the final product may look like. This provided an opportunity for us to design and build a working prototype. We were able to be experimental with features and design choices.

The sales team in particular were keen to demo our prototype so we further enhanced the offering. We added a theming component. The sales team could pitch the sportsbook to potential clients already branded.

Theme-able sportsbook


Working with Betgenius was a lesson in working with distributed teams. They have offices all across the world. Clear communication and expressing of ideas was particularly important. I was especially proud of the design system we created. A picture, or a prototype, speaks a thousand words, in any language!
